Prior Pons

Cellar

The cellar is placed in the tiny village of La Vilella Alta, in a stone house from XVIII century, reformed and adapted as a cellar. In the lowest part of the building, under soil level, we have the aging room, where the oak barrels, and later the bottled wine are placed for several years, before being marketed. In the intermediate floor, there is the wine-making room, with the press, and the fermentation diposits. On the top floor, we have the reception, and the area for shipping orders.

La Vilella Alta is a northern Priorat tiny village. It has 141 inhabitants, and it is placed in the centre of the Qualified Designation of Origin area, at a height of 350 meters, in front of Montsant’s mountains (1.100 meters) and surrounded by Prades and Llaveria mountains. Its municipal district presents a very rough relief, with steep slopes, which force to cultivate the vineyards on terraces, or using the typical “costers” (directly on very inclined hillsides).
